St. Michael's Caves are caverns created by the combination of water with limestone giving rise to stalactites and stalagmites. Much to the surprise of everyone, one of the largest of the caves offered up excellent acoustics so, in it, they constructed a performance hall.

 

Entering from the back of the house, the view of the audience space and stage is overwhelming. Illuminated by lights of ever-changing colours, the experience is somewhat surreal.

As you descend through the house to the back of the orchestra, it's hard to take your eyes off of the surroundings.
