On the middle floor there was jewellery, clothing and fabrics while on the bottom floor there was ceramics and leather goods.

The bottom floor was our downfall. With my pants almost falling down I bought a belt. Bonnie, with her passion for cooking and ceramics, bought a tajine.

Our second scheduled stop in the medina was at a what would be best be described as a homeopathic spice shop. They had a wide variety of herb and spices, foremost amongst them saffron. As well, they had argon oil in several forms together with elixirs --- another word with Arabic roots --- that did everything from stopping storing, relieving joint pain and increasing libido in both men and women. We were offered the opportunity to try some of this products and there was no shortage of volunteers for the latter.

While this was not a place with in your face street vendors, there was always a "deal" to be had. Everything in the shop was 10€. However, if you bought two items, you got one free. If you bought three items, you got two free. What this meant, in practice, is if you paid for two items, you got one additional item for free. If you paid for three items, you got a fourth and fifth item for free. We ended up with three packets of saffron.

Before we knew it, it was mid-afternoon and our coach took us back to the port where we boarded the jet foil for our return to Spain and to Europe.
