After spending much of Wednesday, 2020-02-12, in Seville, we drove to Algeciras on the Mediterranean Coast. Algeciras is a bustling port city in the south of Spain, and is the largest city on the Bay of Gibraltar. The Port of Algeciras is one of the largest ports in the world in three categories: containers, cargo and transshipment. 

Two interesting little facts...

Algeciras got its name from the Moors who occupied the Iberian Peninsula for almost 800 years. It's name comes from the Arabic word for "island" or "peninsula". You may not realize it but it's an Arabic word you likely recognize... al jazeera.
