Today is Sunday, the 22st of March, 2020. This is the first post of the day.
Given that we're in self-isolation and overlook a golf course, one measure that we have developed as a gauge for the lock down here are the number of golfers we see playing through this crisis. It's now 10:15 AM on a beautiful, Sunday morning and we have not yet seen a single golfer.
When the course is without golfers it is frequented by birds: storks, gulls, blackbirds, magpies and other small birds. The picture, today, is of the hoopoe algarve. Because its crest and its beak are similar in length an point in opposite directions, we can not only identify it but identify with it since it's sometimes difficult to tell if it's coming or going!
There is one person on duty here during the day and another person during the overnight hours.
In shortly over 24 h we should be boarding our flight to Toronto. Needless to say, we can hardly wait.
