On the ground, outside, near the synagogue wall is a small bronze plaque. In Hebrew is the word, Sepharad.

Since the late Roman period, Spanish and Portuguese Jews gave the name, Sepharad to the Iberian peninsula. The descendants of Iberian Jews refer to themselves as Sephardi Jews and identify Spain as Sepharad in modern Hebrew.

This small bronze plaque, stylized like the Iberian peninsula, represents the Jews of Iberia who were exiled from Spain in 1492. The following are images that link these exiles to the land where they once lived.
